Kroll Ontrack Introduces New Search, Preview and Restore Functionality for Ontrack PowerControls

Kroll Ontrack(R), the leading provider of data recovery and legal technologies products and services, today announced the availability of Ontrack(R) PowerControls(TM) version 5.2. Complete with a new, flexible licensing option and enhanced search, preview and restoration capabilities, the latest version of the tool provides IT administrators with the ability to easily and efficiently search, locate, restore or consolidate Microsoft(R) Office SharePoint(R) Server 2007 sites as well as individual documents stored on SharePoint sites.

Specifically, Ontrack PowerControls 5.2 includes:

-- Full-site restoration/copy or export functionality. The ability to drag and drop a full SharePoint site into a new or existing SharePoint server at the site level or export a full site to a hard disk location simplifies the restoration and consolidation process. The flexibility to restore either an entire database or granular items without a recovery server significantly reduces the time it takes SharePoint administrators to restore or consolidate site(s) and individual items.

-- Enhanced search and preview capabilities. The unique ability to search for items at the granular level and preview them prior to restoration also saves users significant time by providing them with more targeted and relevant search results.

-- Support for SQL 2008 and SharePoint 2007. Compatibility with the most current versions of SQL and SharePoint enables IT teams to easily address both internal and general IT environment requirements, better ensuring compliance with policies and market best practices.

In addition to enhanced restoration, search and preview functionality as well as support for the most current versions of SQL and SharePoint, Ontrack PowerControls is available via a new, centralized licensing model. Managing a central license deployment as opposed to a distributed license deployment makes Ontrack PowerControls easier to manage. The centralized licensing model also provides scalability by offering a "pack license," which eliminates the need to identify all licenses at the time of purchase and gives administrators the ability to reserve and deploy IDs as their needs grow and change.
