Toshiba to unveil 64GB High Density SDXC Memory Cards at GITEX 2009

Reinforcing its industry leadership in technology solutions, Toshiba Corporation - the leading innovator in memory card technologies, today announced the launch of the world's first 64GB SDXC Memory Card at Gitex 2009. The expanded new card series can be previewed at the Gitex Toshiba Booth at Dubai World Trade Centre till October 22, 2009.

The unveiling of the memory card - which offers the world's faster data transfer - coincides with the launch of new Toshiba USB card. The new products from Toshiba are capable of delivering high level performance and functionality essential for advanced mobile phones and other personal digital products. First samples of the 64GB product will be available by November '09 with sales of 32GB to follow within the last quarter.

The launch of the new products by Multimedya International FZE - The sole distributor of Toshiba memory cards and USBs in Middle East - comes close on the heels of its 32GB and 16GB SDHC Memory Cards. The new cards are compliant with the world's fastest data transfer rate -- the SD Memory Card Standard Ver. 3.00, UHS104, bringing a new level of ultra-fast read and write speeds to NAND flash-based memory cards: a maximum write speed of 35MB per second, and a read speed of 60MB per second.

The launch of the new products will help Toshiba expand its market share across the Middle East to nearly 40% during this year. With the strong support of Multimedya International FZE, Toshiba aims to meet growing need for high speed, high density products in MENA region.

Regional Manager of Toshiba Electronics, said: "The launch of 64GB SDXC Memory Cards and the new USB reflects the importance and demand for high density memory cards. This will augur well for Toshiba and go a long way in building our presence in this very important market, driven by increasing demand for personal digital equipment."

The new cards specifications meet strong market demand for such memory cards combining high level performance with increased data capacity, in order to support such applications as high speed continuous shooting for digital still cameras and high resolution video recording for digital camcorders, and high speed transfers of those data from/to other media. For example, it would be possible to download 2.4GB video data in only 70 seconds.

The high level specifications and wide range of memory cards announced by Toshiba will further open the way for developers to bring exciting applications to future generations of consumer products. By further enhancing its SD Memory Card line-ups with larger capacity and higher data transfer rate, Toshiba will continue to meet market demand, and to lead the NAND flash memory market.
