UAL Corp Reports Much Narrower-Than-Expected Q3 Loss (UAUA)

10/20/2009 - UAL Corp (NASDAQ:UAUA) reported a Q3 loss of $0.44, ex-items, better than consensus analyst estimates for a loss of $0.94. Revenues for the quarter fell 20.3% year-over-year to $4.43 billion, coming out ahead of consensus analyst estimates of $4.34 billion. Chairman, president and CEO Glenn Tilton said, "Against a challenging environment, our people are delivering improvements across the business. With the work we have done and the strength of our network, we are poised to see better year-over-year unit revenue performance as economies begin to recover and business travel returns." The company expects 2009 mainline CASM excluding fuel, profit sharing and certain accounting charges to be down 0.5% to flat compared to last year.
