Nissan Motor to form joint venture with Sumitomo Corp.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of passenger automobiles, is planning to form a joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation, a diversified business group, to reuse, resell, refabricate and recycle lithium-ion batteries previously used in electric cars. Both the companies are based in Japan.

The proposed joint venture is expected to start its operations by late 2010, in Japan and the US.
