Network Equipment Technologies Successfully Completes Certification for Use With NTT DoCoMo Office Link(R)

Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. ("NET") (NASDAQ: NWK) announced today that mobile communications operator NTT DoCoMo has qualified NET's VX Series for direct IP-PBX connection to the NTT DoCoMo Office Link(R) service. The VX Series is a fully integrated multi-service voice switch that provides high-performance VoIP communications for enterprise Microsoft Office Communications Server deployments. The VX Series interoperates with all major PBX and IP-PBX vendor protocols, offering rapid deployment, easy installation, and minimal maintenance.

NET's VX Series will provide enterprises with seamless integration among NTT DoCoMo's Office Link, the mobile phone, and a traditional PBX/IP-PBX used with Microsoft OCS2007. NTT DoCoMo's Office Link offers fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) service to the enterprise, which enables business users to switch from Microsoft Office Communications Server to the FOMA cellular network for guaranteed interworking between Office Link(R) and Office Communications Server by NET when they leave their office. This capability allows small to medium-sized businesses to reduce mobile airtime costs and be more productive.

With NET's VX Series and NTT DoCoMo's Office Link, business users can now gain all the out-of-the-office conveniences of their 3G FOMA mobile phones, Smartphone Windows Mobile and BlackBerry Smartphones when they are in the office, but without the usually higher mobile airtime costs typically incurred by the enterprise for enabling such features. Utilizing the VX Series, calls can be received simultaneously on Microsoft Communicator, a mobile phone, and a fixed telephone. Because the call is originating into the enterprise's fixed network rather than through a cellular network, mobile communications costs are significantly reduced, while operating effectiveness is achieved through the introduction of unified communications tools.

"Small and medium-sized businesses have the same concerns as all of us -- driving down costs and delivering a better customer experience. Unified communications can support those two objectives. Technologies that better integrate key business processes, reduce costs and keep workers in touch with customers regardless of location and help firms to operate more effectively," said Francois Le, NET's vice president of international.

*Office Link(R) is the service which NTT DoCoMo offers in Japan.
