Tadiran Telecom, a provider of IP business telephony and communications, has said that it has been selected to provide Softswitch communications solution to the Indian Railways.
A part of an overall communications system modernization plan, South Central Railway (SCR), a division of Indian Railways, has selected the new Sea Softswitch, which meets all of SCR's first-time requirements for redundancy, fault tolerance, central administration and billing.
The project includes the Hubli and Vijayawada divisions, and spans 85 stations over 200km.
Zeev Aviv, acting president and CEO of Tadiran Telecom, said: "Tadiran is involved in many railway projects around the world and we understand the specific communication needs of this market segment. As a leading player in Indian Railways we are especially happy to be the first to introduce a VoIP and Softswitch-based solution to this market."
