Nearly 50 per cent of United Group's shareholders rejected the company's remuneration report at the annual meeting on 22 October 2009. The potential earnings of CEO Richard Leupen from short-term bonuses was also under scrutiny, while United chairman Trevor Rowe expressed reservations about a proposal from the Productivity Commission to introduce a "two strikes" system for executive remuneration.
