10/26/2009 - The nine million U.S. owners of the Sony (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 3 will soon be able to connect to Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) through the console to instantly stream its online catalog of TV shows and movies, according to a Telegraph report. Netflix's service is already available through the Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox 360, and CEO Reed Hastings says that he hopes to reach users of the Nintendo (OTC:NTDOY) Wii as well. The Sony deal only applies to U.S. console owners and adds about 17,000 films to the ones already available through Sony's digital streaming offerings. To enable the device, users must run a free Blu-Ray software disc available from Netflix.
