Unisys wins $20m California contract

Unisys has won a five-year $20m contract from the City of Santa Clara, California, to provide IT management and support, and application outsourcing services. The contract can be extended for an additional two years.

Under the contract, Unisys will provide IT management and support services, including data center and network management, service desk, equipment provisioning and maintenance, and deskside services. It will provide application modernization and support services, including web development and architecture services. It will also provide departmental IT applications and cross-functional services.

Additionally, infrastructure monitoring will be provided through Unisys Converged Remote Infrastructure Management application that provides a single, consolidated view of the IT infrastructure. The services will support 15 city departments, administrative offices and utilities and will help more than 1,000 end users serve the city's 117,000 residents more effectively.

Gaurav Garg, director of IT at City of Santa Clara, said: "The City of Santa Clara has a new vision for the way IT can add value to the business of municipal government. We believe that Unisys, as our services partner, will provide the innovation, flexibility and thought leadership needed to help us create and refine this new model. As a result, we expect to operate more productively, strategically and cost-efficiently, and adapt more readily to the changing needs of the city and its citizens."

The deal follows Unisys Australia's two contract extensions from the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship for outsourced desktop services, and biometric and identity management applications.
