German postal and logistics company Deutsche Post's DHL express unit is expected to lose 400 jobs as the company planned to close three locations that worked as the sole logistics provider for Quelle, a mail-order business that went burst recently.
Quelle is a part of German retailer Arcandor, which was closed by a bankruptcy administrator after months of trying to find a buyer. The closure of Quelle will also result in the loss of 7,000 jobs in Germany, according to media reports.
Deutsche Post planned to close logistics locations in Bochum, Nuremberg and Lehrte in Germany. Previously, it planned to cut 560 jobs as a result of Arcandor's insolvency.
In connection with the job cuts, The Associated Press quoted Claus Korfmacher, a spokesperson for Deutsche Post, as saying: "We're first entering discussions with our social partners like labor groups."
