Nissan (China) Investment Co. Ltd., wholly-owned subsidiary of the Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Co. (Nasdaq: NSANY), yesterday announced that 541,428 Nissan- and Infiniti-branded vehicles were sold in China in the first three quarters of 2009, with a 35.2% growth year on year.
In detail, total sales volume of the Nissan-branded passenger cars largely increased 47.2% to 400,632, about 15,821 ones more than that in the entire 2008. Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company, as a Sino-Japanese joint venture, became one of China's top five passenger vehicle sellers. By now, 96% of its 2009 sales goal has been achieved.
The Japanese auto titan aggregately sold 75,209 Nissan- and Infiniti-branded vehicles in the country in September alone, surging 63.8% from a year earlier. Meanwhile, up to 11,088 units of the Teana, Nissan Motor's pillar product, were sold, and it kicked off both the 2009 Teana and Sylphy sales goals three months ahead of schedule.
By last month, China had become the second biggest consumption market of Nissan Motor around the globe.
