The Champlain Telephone Company Selects ADTRAN Total Access 5000 for High-Capacity Ethernet Service Delivery

ADTRAN(R), Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced that The Champlain Telephone Company, a leading independent service provider serving New York, has selected ADTRAN's flagship product, the Total Access(R) 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) to enhance its residential and commercial service delivery. The deployment of the Total Access 5000 will enable The Champlain Telephone Company to expand the range, reach and performance of a variety of next-generation, carrier-class services, while leveraging more cost-effective Ethernet transport options to enhance operational efficiencies.

ADTRAN's Total Access 5000 was selected for deployment in the Champlain network based on its flexibility to support a wide variety of services from a single system as well as an industry-leading warranty and best-in-class technical support. These benefits, when combined with the capacity and scalability of the Total Access 5000, ensure that this investment is capable of evolving to meet the high-bandwidth needs of the future.

"As we upgrade our access infrastructure to prepare for higher-bandwidth services, the Total Access 5000 brings a wealth of benefits," said Steve Pinto, director of network operations, The Champlain Telephone Company. "This is one of the most flexible platforms on the market, allowing us to add services easily and cost effectively. Having multi-gigabit Ethernet ring, star, and chain options for transport along with the latest switch fabric will enable us to offer high-capacity Ethernet services to the New York market for years to come."

"Champlain Telephone is an established ADTRAN customer. The addition of the Total Access 5000 to its network will bring added benefits to both Champlain and its customers," said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales, service providers, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. "This platform will allow Champlain to address economically and efficiently the transport needs of today, while paving the way for future service expansion from the same platform."

The ADTRAN Total Access 5000 is a carrier-class, multi-service access and aggregation platform that bridges the gap between existing and next-generation networks. With an all-Ethernet core, the Total Access 5000 supports both legacy and emerging-service interfaces over copper and fiber, easily scaling to support bandwidth-intensive applications. This scalable Ethernet architecture allows carriers to use the Total Access 5000 to address economically both legacy and next-generation services while providing a seamless path toward a converged network.
