Ingres Signs Reseller Agreement With HVR Software

Ingres Corporation, the leading open source database management company and pioneer of the New Economics of IT, announced today that it has entered into a global reseller agreement with HVR Software b.v. As part of the agreement, Ingres will resell HVR's Realtime Data Integration software, branded as Ingres HVR.

HVR (high volume replicator) is a robust and reliable real-time data integration solution. It has a proven track record in business situations where there is a requirement for high availability and real-time business intelligence. HVR's performance and scalability allows it to replicate very large databases in real-time. Its design and rich functionality also mean that difficult system migrations can be implemented with minimum effort, downtime, or risk.

"Having worked with Ingres for many years, we have always been impressed with its ability to embrace partner technology to provide customers with desired performance and functionality capabilities," said Gert Simons, CEO, HVR Software. "As an open source solution, interoperability is at the heart of the Ingres philosophy and we can therefore integrate our technology without sacrificing on quality."

"Ingres HVR extends our core functionality to provide industrial strength, real-time data integration for customers that require high availability, business intelligence, or zero downtime migrations," said Steve Shine, executive vice president of worldwide operations, Ingres. "Organizations that want to manage cost without sacrificing on innovation benefit from developments such as this in conjunction with our subscription based pricing. Ingres has always been the foundation for some of the world's largest mission critical applications. The Ingres and HVR partnership builds on our commitment to provide innovative solutions within an open platform."

GlobalCollect, an international payment services company, is a joint customer of HVR Software and Ingres. Last year, customers and vendors depended on GlobalCollect to make more than 40 million payments and conduct in excess of 80 million transactions collectively worth over $1.5 billion.

"When we started, Ingres had the best query optimizer and offered by far the quickest route to setting up and building the database -- the other players were three years behind. Today we still believe it is the best solution for our back office architecture," said Eric Couwenberg, CTO, GlobalCollect.

After looking at competing replication tools, it became clear to Couwenberg that HVR was the only one that offered the speed, flexibility, and performance that GlobalCollect needed. Today HVR is used for a growing number of solutions at GlobalCollect, starting with data replication between more than 25 to 30 different channels and four databases. GlobalCollect relies on HVR to update the new rates of more than 200 currencies to other systems and as a vital migration tool.

"We are pleased to see the partnership between Ingres and HVR Software accelerate as both companies continue their focus on delivering robust enterprise solutions for business critical workloads," said Couwenberg.
