Disney Launches Interactive iPhone Applications (DIS,AAPL)

10/28/2009 - The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) launched free applications for Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone and iPod touch, according to a Reuters report. The company hopes to build more interactive experiences that will link content with its web site and eventually the real world. The report cites a theoretical situation where a person would be able to snap a picture of a "Pirates of the Caribbean" poster at a local theater to unlock exclusive content. Disney.com reaches almost 31 million unique visitors per month and is the number one entertainment mobile site among other mobile sites, according to the company. Users can also listen to live Radio Disney, watch music videos and buy Disney music from the iTunes Store.
