Motorola appoints new CFO

Wireless and mobile broadband communications company Motorola Inc (NYSE:MOT) announced on Thursday that its senior vice president Edward J Fitzpatrick has been appointed chief financial officer, effective immediately.

According to the company, Fitzpatrick, who joined Motorola in 2000, has served as acting CFO since February 2009 and corporate controller since January 2009. Previously, he served as corporate vice president of finance for Motorola's Home & Networks Mobility business.

Before that, he served as vice president and controller for the Networks & Enterprise and the Government & Enterprise Mobility Solutions businesses and controller for the Connected Home Solutions business. Prior to Motorola's acquisition of General Instrument Corporation, Fitzpatrick was assistant corporate controller at General Instrument.
