Thin client technology company Wyse Technology announced on Friday that luxury clothing designer La Perla selected IBM and Wyse to help improve its desktop capabilities and lower energy and IT costs with the use of IBM's Smart Business Desktop Cloud solution.
The financial details of the agreement, signed in Q2 2009, were not disclosed.
According to the company, by working with IBM, La Perla is now operating Wyse virtual clients on its private desktop cloud solution. As a result, the company is benefiting from 50% cost reduction in support and operational costs, 85% reduction in energy costs and a cost avoidance of almost USD100,000 by deployment of new Wyse clients.
IBM and Wyse have partnered to help clients leverage cloud computing to foster collaboration and innovation across a desktop cloud environment. By combining IBM's desktop cloud services and Wyse's thin computing and client virtualisation strengths, the companies are delivering customers a high-quality user experience, with greater reliability and lower total cost of ownership.
