Actuate announced that it has awarded a 2009 Excellence Award for Performance Management to the City of Dallas.
City of Dallas has won in the Super Size category for its enterprise-wide performance management initiative with its return on investment using Actuate and BIRT.
City of Dallas' enterprise-wide deployment of its performance management initiative entailed implementing BIRT Performance Scorecard (formerly known as Performancesoft Views) to help refine and re-energize the City's approach to evaluating its performance. The initiative resulted in an easy to use system that freed organizational stakeholders to concentrate on the high-level questions that data prompts, rather than spending time and effort on retrieving and formatting data.
Furthermore, the dynamic environment in which City departments can now access their data has raised general awareness of the benefits of performance measurement. With a much more friendly look and feel, BIRT Performance Scorecard makes information much more accessible to a wider audience, reinforcing a culture of evidence based management to extend accountability beyond a select group of managers and analysts. Finally, the enhanced accessibility provided by BIRT Performance Scorecard has aided efforts to rationalize metrics, eliminating those that did not provide any insight into normal operations.
"We are delighted to receive this award," said Margaret Wright, assistant director, strategic customer services, City of Dallas. "This award is a testament to our commitment to the citizens of the City of Dallas. With Actuate technology, accurate and up-to-date City performance data is compiled and is posted for the general public to review."
In response to the recently federal government developed requirements for the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA), City of Dallas quickly realized that BIRT Performance Scorecard had the capacity to meet the federal reporting and transparency requirements of the Act, in addition to addressing its enterprise wide performance management initiatives. City of Dallas decided to use BIRT Performance Scorecard to track ARRA measures as it was a system the City already had, users have already been trained, and the system has the ability to post results to the Internet for the public. The benefits of the program and the return on investment continue to grow.
"We congratulate City of Dallas as a 2009 Actuate Excellence Award winner, and for their ongoing innovative use of Actuate technologies," said Nobby Akiha, senior vice president, marketing, Actuate. "City of Dallas is a shining example of how Actuate technologies can accommodate existing framework for performance measurement and be scaled beyond the enterprise."
