MRV's Optical Networks CTO to Speak at Light Reading Ethernet Expo 2009

MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC., today announced that its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Optical Networks, Brandon Pemberton, will participate in a roundtable discussion at Light Reading's Ethernet Expo 2009. MRV is a leading networking company with a full line of packet-optical transport (P-OTS), carrier Ethernet, 40G networking and out-of-band networking products.

On day two of the expo (Nov. 4), Pemberton will speak as part of the roundtable discussion "Converged Packet-Optical Solutions for High-Capacity, Smart Bandwidth Services." Moderated by Sterling Perrin of Heavy Reading, this roundtable will explore how operators can leverage next-generation optical and Ethernet network solutions to deliver high-capacity retail and wholesale services in a profitable way. Additionally, the panel will discuss trends related to packet-optical integration including layer 2/3 and ROADM integration, optical interfaces on carrier Ethernet switch/router (CESR) and Ethernet service edge (ESE) platforms, the role of OTN (ITU-T G.709) in carrier Ethernet networks and a unified control plane for packet and optical networks.

Light Reading's Ethernet Expo 2009 will be held Nov. 3-4 at The Hilton New York in New York City. Now in its ninth year, this year's event will bring together experts from the service provider, supplier and analyst communities to explore the hottest trends in Ethernet technology. The conference will feature informative presentations, keynotes and panel discussions about all aspects of the growing and evolving Ethernet market. MRV will be exhibiting in booth #120.

Joining the company in 2005 as a Systems Engineer, he is an expert in the telecommunications industry, with experience in WDM, Sonet, fiber optics, transport, and Ethernet. He has held other positions within the company, including Senior Director of Market Development, Regional Director of Sales, and Director of Business Development. Prior to joining MRV, Brandon served in several senior engineering positions at AboveNet, TelCove, and MCI/Worldcom. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the communications and intelligence sector.
