Bank Of New York Mellon acquires Insight Investment Management from Lloyds Banking Group

The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, a US-based provider of financial services, has acquired Insight Investment Management (Global) Limited from Lloyds Banking Group plc, a provider of banking and financial services.

Insight Investment is an asset management company. Both Insight Investment and Lloyds Banking are based in the UK.

Announcement (August 12, 2009):

Bank of New York Mellon has agreed to acquire Insight Investment from Lloyds Banking for GBP235 million.

Insight Investment specializes in liability driven investment solutions, active fixed income and alternatives. With this acquisition, Insight Investment will join the other investment boutiques at BNY Mellon Asset Management. The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Allen & Overy LLP is acting as financial advisor to Lloyds Banking. Close Brothers Corporate Finance Limited is acting as financial advisor to Bank of New York Mellon on the transaction.
