Xinhua Asia-Pacific stocks news at 1100 GMT, Nov. 3

MANILA -- Philippine stocks closed 0.0089 percent lower on Tuesday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index slipped by 0.26 point to 2,908.24 while the all-share index went down by 1.57 points or 0.086 percent to 1,826.80.

The trade volume reached 2.46 billion shares worth 8.8 billion pesos (185 million U.S. dollars).

HANOI -- Vietnam's stock market index, VN-Index, closed at 539. 65 points on Tuesday, down 22.06 points, or 3.93 percent, against the previous trading day.

A total of 64.64 million shares worth 3.23 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (180.84 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange. Among 184 listed stocks, prices of 11 stocks went up, 173 dropped.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares closed lower Tuesday on market jitters on a possible correction on recovery.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) decreased 9.17 points, or 0.59 percent, to end at 1,549.92, marking a decline for a sixth consecutive session.

The volume was light at 270 million shares worth 3.6 trillion won (3 billion U.S. dollars).

SHANGHAI -- China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed at 3,114.23 points Tuesday, up 1.22 percent, or 37.58 points, from the previous close.

Total turnover was 170.3 billion yuan (24.9 billion U.S. dollars)

SHENZHEN -- The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 12,859.86 points Tuesday, grew 144.20 points, or 1.13 percent, from the previous close.

Total turnover was 119.6 billion yuan (17.5 billion U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong stocks shed 380.13 points, or 1.76 percent, to close at 21,240.06 on Tuesday.

Turnover totaled 61.01 billion HK dollars (7.82 billion U.S. dollars), compared with Monday's 65.12 billion HK dollars (8.35 billion U.S. dollars).

TAIPEI -- Share prices on the Taiwan Stock Exchange ended slightly lower Tuesday, with the weighted index down 12.25 points, or 0.16 percent, to close at 7,322.93, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

The benchmark index opened flat at 7,339.36 and moved between 7, 368.28 and 7,314.97 during the day's trading, with 2.92 billion shares changing hands on a total turnover of 79.13 billion new Taiwan dollars (2.43 billion U.S. dollars).

WELLINGTON -- The New Zealand sharemarket drifted lower on Tuesday after receiving fairly mixed signals from offshore. T

the stock market closed 0.78 percent lower on Tuesday with the benchmark NZSX-50 down 24.75 points at 3158.99, and a turn over of 78 million NZ dollars (56.16 million U.S. dollars).

COLOMBO -- Share prices on the Colombo Stock Exchange closed down on Tuesday, with the key Colombo All Share Price Index decreasing marginally by 12.74 points or 0.43 percent to close at 2,964.19 points.

A total turnover of 670.64 million rupees (about 5.78 million U. S. dollars) was recorded during the day with a volume of 15.95 million shares being traded.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's main bourse -- Dhaka Stock Exchange All Shares Price Index (DSI), the benchmark index, closed at 2,850.74 points on Tuesday, up 2.98 points or 0.10 percent from Monday's finish.

The total turnover came down to around 8.18 billion taka (about 116.90 million U.S. dollars) on Tuesday from around 9.52 billion taka (about 135.97 million U.S. dollars) on Monday.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)composite index moved down 8.74 points, or 1.29 percent to close at 668.48 points on Tuesday.

Some 2.92 billion shares worth 20.17 billion baht (about 611.21 million U.S. dollars) changed hands.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 37.536 points, (or 1.58 percent) to 2,334.106 points on Tuesday.

Some 81,530 transactions were booked Tuesday at a volume of 3. 872 million copies of share worth 3.054 trillion rupiah (about 318. 9 million U.S dollars)

SINGAPORE -- The shares prices in Singapore fell 23.88 points or 0.9 percent on Tuesday with the benchmark Straits Times Index ( STI) closing at 2,621.55 points.

The overall volume stood at 1.28 billion shares worth 1.22 billion Singapore dollars (about 0.87 billion U.S. dollars).

MUMBAI -- The Indian stock benchmark Sensex closed lower Tuesday at 15,404.94 points, down 491.34 points or 3.09 percent from the previous closing Friday.

The total turnover was 328 million U.S. dollars.
