Viacom Net Earnings Rise 24%

Viacom (VIA) announced an earnings boost today of 14 percent in operating income and 24 percent in adjusted net earnings.

Viacom said third quarter operating income increased 14 percent, to $784 million, as compared to 689 million in the same quarter last year, driven by strong performance in films such as Transformers.

Adjusted net earnings totaled $421 million, or 69 cents per share, 24 percent higher than the same quarter last year.

Revenue dipped 3 percent to $3.32 billion, as home entertainment and advertising sales declines.
