The Confucius Institute Deploys FS Networks' BIG-IP and ARX Solutions

F5 Networks, Inc., a developer of application delivery networking solutions, announced that the Confucius Institute has deployed F5 BIG-IP and ARX solutions to support a global Content Delivery Network (CDN).

The solution enables the institute to deliver online courses to over 40 million Chinese-language learners worldwide through a web portal in a secure manner.

The F5 solutions deployed include Viprion at the Beijing headquarters and additional BIG-IP devices at four data centers across the globe for core application delivery functions. Along with BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM), BIG-IP Global Traffic Manager (GTM) is leveraged for location-based global traffic management, while the F5 ARX500 file virtualization device enables storage capacity optimization for the solution.

"Leveraging F5's application and data delivery technology to support a CDN enables us to accelerate, secure, and deliver content and services worldwide," said Guo Yizhou, Director of Network Division, Confucius Institute. "F5 technology provides a scalable application delivery platform that helps us pave the way for the future of Confucius Institute Online. With this CDN, we can provide services to audiences around the world who are interested in learning about China's language and culture. Delivering various education services and activities over this network enables our audiences to better understand and appreciate the various facets of modern China."

"We are happy that F5 solutions have been selected to be key components of this project," said Francis Zhang, General Manager of F5 Networks China. "Organizations of all size look to their technology investments to increase IT agility."

Confucius Institute is a non-profit education organization promoting the development of multi-cultural understanding.
