Comcast (CMCSA) said today its fiscal second quarter profit jumped 22 percent, to $944 million, or 33 cents per share, as compared to $771 million, or 26 cents per share, in the same quarter last year.
Revenue at the U.S. largest cable company was up about 3 percent, to $8.8 billion. Revenue increases were driven by increased subscribers to bundled cable, phone and internet packages, even as the company lost 132,000 basic video customers.
Comcast did say it sees signs that the economy is stabilizing. Now all eyes are on when it may announce a deal with General Electric (GE) over control of NBC Universal.
