'DeTe's German revenues drop 2%, despite mobile growth'

Deutsche Telekom's German operating segment posted positive figures with domestic fixed-network and mobile communications activities reported together under the new structure. Revenue in the third quarter decreased by 2.0 percent year-on-year to EUR 6.471 billion and adjusted EBITDA fell by 3.3 percent to EUR 2.523 billion. Mobile services revenues decrease 0.4 percent to EUR 1.798 billion and the non-voice share of ARPU increased year-on-year from 23 percent to 27 percent. This development was driven chiefly by data revenues, which in the first three quarters of 2009 were 51 percent higher than the prior-year figure. T-Mobile Germany's mobile customer base grew by 1.4 percent year-on-year to 39.33 million with 227,000 net additions in the third quarter. As a result, the EBITDA margin improved from 33.7 percent to 34.0 percent. The highlight was the development of Deutsche Telekom's IPTV service Entertain, winning 117,000 new customers during the quarter to end it with 678,000 active customers. In total, Deutsche Telekom marketed 885,000 Entertain packages by the end of the quarter, well on the way to achieving the target of one million for the full year.
