DBRS rates at BBB Shaw Communications' notes

5 November 2009 - DBRS rated yesterday at BBB with a "stable" outlook the planned senior unsecured notes issue of Canadian cable broadcaster Shaw Communications Inc (TSX:SJR.B).

The company wil issue the 30-year notes under its CAD2.5bn (USD2.3bn/EUR1.6bn) universal shelf prospectus from 11 March 2009. They will be unsecured obligations and will rank equally with all of the company's existing and future senior unsecured indebtedness.

DBRS said it expects Shaw Communications to use the proceeds from the issue for general corporate purposes, working capital, capital expenditures and wireless investments.
