Sierra Wireless and ZTE also scored well in Implementation, while Sierra Wireless and Novatel Wireless had the highest ratings for Innovation."

The Vendor Matrix is an analytical tool developed by ABI Research to provide a clear understanding of vendors' positions in specific markets. Vendors are assessed on the important parameters of "innovation" and "implementation" across several criteria unique to each vendor matrix.

For this particular matrix, under "innovation," ABI Research examined vendors' capabilities across the categories of certification and integration support; breadth of product line; complementary product offerings; Tier Three customer support; market share; financial and organizational health; and product cost.

Under "implementation," ABI Research scrutinized the following criteria for PCMCIA Cards and USB modems: design; Plug and Play; performance; durability; feature functionality; GSM network coverage; CDMA network coverage; and WiMAX network coverage.
