More Illinois residents benefit from Verizon network investment

Verizon Wireless, a US mobile network operator, has activated a new cell site in Mattoon, Illinois, that expands its network coverage in the area and also increases network capacity, to the benefit of local residents.
The company said today that the new site, which is equipped with a permanent backup generator, covers the area from County Road 400 North in the north to the Cumberland County line in the south, and from the Shelby County line in the west to County Road 1000 East in the east, and is part of the company's ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable, high-quality service.
Verizon Wireless, a joint venture between Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) and Vodafone (NYSE:VOD)(LSE:VOD), has invested over USD50bn in its nationwide network infrastructure and services since it was formed, with around USD1.2bn of that invested in the State of Illinois.
