CDC Software completes acquisition of Activplant
SHANGHAI, Nov 10, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
Company: CDC Software Corp (CDCS)
The CDC Software Corporation (CDCS.NASDAQ) has completed the acquisition of the Activplant Corporation, a Canadian-based provider of manufacturing business intelligence solutions.
Activplant provides software for leading automotive manufacturers, food and beverage companies, as well as forestry products and consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies.
Sean Yu, chairman of CDC Software, said that the Activplant's manufacturing intelligence solutions are an ideal fit for CDC Factory, the software company's manufacturing operations management solutions business.
With the purchase, CDC Software is expected to promote the CDC Factory in its established market, further penetrate the automotive industry, and enter other new markets.
The combination of CDC Factory and Activplant's functionality will allow manufacturers to spend less on customizing the software to fit their specific business processes, added Yu.
CDC Software adopts an acquisition strategy to broaden its product portfolio, expand global networks, and increase vertical expertise. In the previous quarter, it acquired WKD Solutions, a UK-based developer and provider of supply-chain management solutions. Also, it plans to acquire two software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies to establish a foothold in this growing market.
