"Third quarter 2009 business saw a continued improvement with demand growing across the board. Sequentially, revenues from computer applications grew the most with 29% quarter-over-quarter growth rate, followed by communication's 25% and consumer's 11%, respectively. As a result of continued ramp-up of TSM's 40/45nm technology, revenues from 40/45nm were more than quadrupled during the quarter and accounted for 4% of total wafer sales.

"Infineon Technologies AG and TSM last week announced that they are extending their development and production partnership to a 65nanometer (nm) embedded flash (eFlash) process technology targeting next generation automotive, chip card and security applications. Based on the agreement, Infineon and TSMC will jointly develop 65nm process technologies for eFlash microcontrollers (MCUs) that fulfill the stringent quality requirements of the automotive industry, as well as the demanding security requirements of the chip card and security markets."
