Network infrastructure company Huawei has won contracts from Spanish operator Jazztel to provide and deploy new network technologies to increase Jazztel's current access network with new DSLAM, allowing it to offer VDSL2 and ADSL2+ Bonding services.
Under the deal, Huawei will also provide data network and transmission network expansion, and deployment of softswitch equipment.
Under the five-year outsourcing contract, Huawei will assume full responsibility of network operation activities such as 24x7 network monitoring and operation, field maintenance, multivendor network technical support, and spare parts management.
The companies have been collaborating since 2005, when Jazztel awarded Huawei the deployment of the first functional NGN network in Spain.
Yu Chendong, EU president at Huawei, said: "This agreement represents a new milestone in our strategy to support our customers in Europe with value added solutions and services. This is an opportunity for Huawei to demonstrate how the unmatched reliability of our technology together with our knowledge on network management can help our customers reach new levels of excellence in the market".
In June, Huawei extended its partnership with UAE-based telecoms operator Etisalat to support further expansion of Etisalat's business.
