Volt Workforce Solutions, a staffing business unit of Volt Information Sciences, Inc., announced that it has received a 2009 ASA Care Award from the American Staffing Association for outstanding corporate social responsibility initiative.
Volt earned an award in the large staffing firm category (firms with more than $100 million in annual sales) for its "Volt Military Heroes Program." Volt reported that this is the second consecutive year that Volt has achieved Care Award honors from ASA for developing business processes that produce an overall positive effect on society.
The Volt Military Heroes Program is a program designed to provide career support and employment opportunities to transitioning military personnel, while simultaneously providing a valued service to clients, who need well-trained, qualified candidates. The objectives for the program are to recognize specific skill sets, training, leadership and other positive attributes instilled in America's military service members, and collaborate with clients to provide veterans with the best employment opportunities that Corporate America can provide.
"Through the Volt Military Heroes Program, we are committed to help veteran candidates, including those with combat-related injuries, receive access to the employment resources they need, including resume preparation and career-readiness assistance," said Tom Daley, President of Volt Workforce Solutions. "And, with our database of millions of candidates, clients can gain access to outstanding veteran candidates who match their requirements."
"The ASA Care Awards demonstrate the breadth of the staffing industry's impact on the lives of others and the communities we live in," said award judge Serenity Edwards, CIPP, of the Direct Marketing Association. "That impact has the potential to grow as more staffing companies continue to develop socially responsible programs and promote the good work they are doing across the nation."
This year's Care Award winners were honored Oct. 23 in Orlando during a special ceremony at Staffing World 2009, the ASA convention and expo.
