Northrop Grumman's Europe-based subsidiary Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems has won a multi-million dollar contract from Italy-based Selex Systemi Integrati for the provision of an integrated air traffic management (ATM) systems package for the New Doha International Airport in Qatar.
Under the contract, the company will supply and install a ground-to-air communications system; the instrument landing systems; a digital voice and radar recording system; and a surface movement guidance and control system, which includes surface movement radars and multilateration sensors integrated with SELEX's automation system.
Eldar Hauge, managing director at Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems in Norway, said: "The integrated A(TM) package that we will be providing will help facilitate the handling of the heavy volume of flights that this new international airport will face in the years ahead. We look forward to developing a close partnership with Selex over the coming months and to delivering the system capability that will contribute to the operational success of this world class airport."
The deal follows Northrop Grumman's $17.6m contract from the US Air Force Combat Information Transport System (CITS) Program Management Office. It also won a three-year contract from industrial and environmental services provider PSC to provide commercial IT support services, and a five-year $46m contract from the US Department of Homeland Security to provide technical services.
