BEIJING, Nov 19, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --
Companies: DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc (DWA), Intel Corp. (INTC)
Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC; SEHK: 4335) will provide Chinese animation developers with support in terms of hardware, software, talents, and capital, disclosed George Ling, director of infrastructure, Enterprise and Word Ahead Organization (IEWA), Intel PRC, at the Shanghai International Digital Media Technology and Industry Development Forum.
Actually, Intel has dipped toe in the animation market globally. Last year, the semiconductor giant formed a strategic alliance with DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. (Nasdaq: DWA) to offer technology support to the latter's 3D movie production.
Because animation production needs high-performance computers, Intel shows a great interest in China's burgeoning digital content industry that has gotten support from the Chinese government.
George Ling says that Intel will provide hardware equipment according to the needs of Chinese animation developers, and offer basic technology support to other partners along the industrial chain. Meanwhile, its engineers will develop software applicable to their animation production.
As to the low profitability of animation developers, he points out that hardware inputs will increase costs to some extent, but advanced technologies could save time and labor costs for animation production.
