SINA Reportedly Returns to Online Gaming Market
BEIJING, Nov 20, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --
Company: Sina Corp/China (SINA)
Unisinfo Co., Ltd. held a press conference for the open beta test of its proprietary 2.5D magic online game Dispute Online on November 19, 2009, which was attended by Kou Xiaowei, vice director of the General Administration of Press and Publication of China.
Kou did not talk of the R&D of the game and the information relating to its operator, but said that he was glad to see SINA Corporation (Nasdaq: SINA) return to the online gaming market.
He stressed that he was pleased that Charles Chao became the majority shareholder of SINA and regretted that the online media company previously retreated from online game operation. In his opinion, SINA is a newcomer in the field and needs help from veteran operators.
Actually, SINA has reportedly reached an agreement with Unisinfo on the joint operation of Dispute Online. Some say that Unisinfo is a subsidiary wholly owned by SINA.
However, a top SINA executive denied the story, saying that his company is only cooperating with Unisinfo and providing the latter with resource support. If the situations were like what rampant talks said, SINA would release the truth in its fiscal report.
