OSI Systems Wins $2.2 Million Contract from Delhi Metro Rail Company for Baggage X-Ray Scanning Systems

OSI Systems, Inc., a provider of specialized electronic products for critical applications in the Security and Healthcare industries, announced that its Security division, Rapiscan Systems, has been awarded a contract by the Delhi Metro Rail, the mass transit system set up by the Government of India and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, valued at approximately $2.2 million, to provide security screening systems for the inspection of passengers' baggage.
Under the terms of the contract, the Delhi Metro Rail has purchased multiple Rapiscan Systems 600 series checkpoint X-ray baggage scanners to deploy in underground metro corridor and surface rail corridor stations throughout Delhi. The procurement is part of a multi-phase effort by the Delhi Metro Rail to upgrade its security screening processes as its transit network expands, and was awarded following a competitive tender.

The Rapiscan Systems 600 series is used for aviation, mass transit, event security and other mission critical security applications. Its tunnel dimensions allow it to scan the bags of passengers travelling by train. It is capable of distinguishing organic and inorganic threats. As with all systems in Rapiscan's 600 series, the systems are built on a standardised platform which allows it to be installed and maintained.
