LG ELECTRONICS QUITS PC MANUFACTURING

LG Electronics Inc.
(KSE:066570), South Korea's second-largest electronics maker,
said Monday it has stopped the production of personal computers
and is fully outsourcing it to local and Taiwanese companies.
For years, LG has gradually boosted outsourcing of personal
computers to cut costs. LG's direct production of personal
computers ceased in September, according to company
officials.
With the decision, a personal computer plant in LG's plant
in Kunshan, China's Jaingsu Province, was switched to produce
vehicle navigation systems, the company said.
