Extreme Networks delivers energy efficient 10 Gigabit Ethernet Switches and NICs offering 30% Power Savings

Extreme Networks, Inc. continues to innovate in the data center by addressing power consumption and reduced operational costs. Extreme Networks is now shipping a greener, more energy efficient version of its Summit(R) X650 10GBASE-T data center switch, a very high performance 10GbE, Top-of-Rack Ethernet switch, designed for the next generation data center, cloud computing and hosted environments.

A second generation 10 Gigabit, Top-of-Rack switch, the Summit X650-24t consumes 200W less power than the first generation, meeting the energy efficiency goals of data center planners. The solution is complemented with Intel's new lower power 10GBASE-T adapter that provides state-of the art interfaces to high performance servers.

Earlier this year, Extreme Networks was also the first to support copper 10 Gigabit (10GBASE-T ) with the Summit(R) X650 Top-of-Rack data center switch, complementing a complete 10GBASE-T ecosystem, from high performance server adapters to switches.
