French fixed and mobile operator Bouygues Telecom has selected Alcatel-Lucent's LTE equipment for a trial of mobile broadband services. Alcatel-Lucent will be the sole supplier and network integrator for the field trial programme due to start at various sites in western France in 2010. The trials are intended to allow the operator to evaluate opportunities to introduce new multimedia applications and services. Alcatel-Lucent will supply its end-to-end LTE solution, which comprises base stations (eNodeBs), Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and its associated management system. Alcatel-Lucent also will provide Bouygues Telecom with a full range of professional services including project management and planning, as well as installation, commissioning, integration and test plan execution services. This is Alcatel-Lucent's nineteenth customer trial to date.
