Jokadu Nam Commends CDDP - As He Inaugurates Milling Machine Worth Over D100, 000

Honourable Kebba Gaye, the National Assembly member for Jokadu constituency, recently presided over the inauguration ceremony of a milling machine, at a ceremony held at Misira Alhagie Karu, in Jokadou constituency, North Bank Region (NBR).
Delivering his inauguration statement, Hon. Kebba Gaye commended the Community Driven Development Project (CDDP) for providing D109, 000 for the purchase of a milling machine for the women of Misira Alhagie Karu village in his constituency. The gesture, he said, is a labour saving device meant to support the women in their domestic works. He hailed the CDDP project for the laudable initiative in empowering communities, to enable them identify their own development projects.
The provision of the milling machine, according to Hon. Gaye, would effectively provide better nutrition for families at household level and would also enhance the health of women in the process.
The Jokadu National Assembly member used the opportunity to call on the project beneficiaries in the area to ensure that the machine is used for its purpose. Alhagie Jim Fatma Jobe, the chief of Jokadu, applauded the people of Alhagie Misira Karu for identifying their own community projects with the support of the Community Driven Development Project, aimed to reduce poverty and enhance the livelihood of women and children at grassroots level.
The district chief outlined his commitment to the transparent execution of community projects, which he said is a proof of their determination to promote good governance and sustainable development. He urged the beneficiaries to put plans that would effectively contribute to the maintenance of the machine. Speaking at the occasion, Alhagie Gaye, chairman of the Village Development Committee (VDC), thanked the CDDP for the numerous capacity development exercises like design of projects, award of contracts, costing of projects and implementation of community projects.
Gaye hailed the community for their active participation and understanding in the execution of the project, noting that the intervention of CDDP would complement the development aspirations of the community as they seek to ease the plight of women and girls. The VDC chairman further assured them of their willingness to support the development objectives of the village. Maram Secka, lady president; and Haddy Drammeh, a member of the Village Development Committee, also echoed similar sentiments. The village alkalo Momodou Bah, delivered the vote of thanks.
