Toshiba Expands Lineup of NAND-Flash-Based SSDs

Toshiba Corp. and Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc., its subsidiary in the Americas, announced an expanded lineup of NAND-flash-based solid state drives (SSDs) including 128-gigabyte Half-Slim /mSATA SG Series SSD modules and a third generation HG3 Series.
The company said both families of SSDs are based on Toshiba 32nm Multi-Level Cell NAND. The new HG3 generation SSD, according to a release, delivers performance for use in notebook computers and gaming and home entertainment systems.
The company said samples of the new drives will be available in the first quarter of 2010, with mass production in the second quarter.
Toshiba noted that both new series support the TRIM Command implemented in Windows 7.
