LAN Airlines reports 17.6% increase in Q4 profit

Chilean carrier LAN Airlines SA (NYSE:LFL) announced on Tuesday a net income of USD109.8m for the fourth quarter of 2009.
This represents a rise of 17.6% compared to net income of USD93.3m for the same period of the prior year.
Revenues for the quarter totalled USD1,070.7m, down from revenues of USD1,114.9m for the fourth quarter of 2008 due to a 1.6% year-on-year decline in passenger revenues and a 10.7% fall in cargo revenues.
Net income for the full year 2009 was USD231.1m, a decrease of 31.3% compared to the previous year. Full-year revenue figures were not provided.
