Level 3 Communications, Inc. announced that it has an operational connection in Chicago to a Carrier Ethernet Exchange, which is operated by CENX.
Level 3 said its participation in Ethernet exchanges represents the company's commitment to expanding the distribution of its Ethernet services.
"We launched the CENX Ethernet Exchanges with one fundamental goal: simplifying carrier-to-carrier Ethernet interconnections and making worldwide Ethernet ubiquity a reality, and connecting with companies like Level 3 is furthering the cause," said Nan Chen, CENX co-founder & CEO. "CENX's unique service alignment and management capabilities, together with its vast Carrier Ethernet experience, enable our carrier partners to accelerate Global Ethernet expansion."
Additionally, Level 3 noted it has validated its services to Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 9 and 14 specifications for services delivered through the CENX Carrier Ethernet Exchange (Level 3's full suite of MEF certifications can be found at metroethernetforum.org).
"Having previously been recognized for our broad Ethernet portfolio, Level 3 will continue to invest in broadening our Ethernet footprint through network investment as well as through the establishment of interconnections - a process made easier by the innovative services and carrier Ethernet expertise offered by CENX," said Russell Shriver, Level 3's vice president of Internet and Data Services.
