After a fast start in 2009, the momentum surrounding changes to the FFELP program slowed significantly, surprising many, according to Fitch Ratings in its latest edition of 'The Student Loan Report Card'.
Early in 2009 it appeared that student aid legislation was poised to take effect before the year ended, but as healthcare reform took the spotlight, the legislation has come to a standstill in the senate.
In this edition, Fitch provides a recap of 2009 including Fitch's outlook for 2010 and the most recent rating actions taken. Student loan performance is also discussed.
