Verizon names Rodney Slater to board of directors

services Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE: VZ) has named Rodney E
Slater, former US Secretary of Transportation, to its board of
directors, effective 5 March 2010.
The company said that the addition of Slater will bring its total board
membership to 13.
Slater is currently a partner in the law firm of Patton Boggs LLP in
Washington DC. He is also vice chairman and senior advisor at James Lee
Witt Associates.
He served as Secretary of Transportation under President Bill Clinton
from February 1997 to January 2001.
