Juniper Networks: Juniper Networks SSL VPN Solutions Achieve UK Government Certification to Verify SecurityCapability Claims
LONDON, UK, Feb 08, 2010 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
Company: Juniper Networks, Inc. (JNPR)
Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR) today announced that its market-leading SA Series SSL VPN technology has been awarded the CESG Claims Tested Mark (CCTM) by CESG, UK Government's National Technical Authority for Information Assurance. Juniper Networks SA4500 FIPS and SA6500 FIPS appliances have achieved CCTM certification following rigorous independent tests conducted by ISO/IEC 17025 accredited test laboratories to ensure that their security functionality complies with the robust demands of international public sector IT.
The CCTM scheme is designed to verify the claims vendors make for their security solutions for data confidentiality, integrity and availability within the modern governmental IT environment. Its test methodology is uniformly applied to all candidate products and services to ensure that certification provides a consistent and objective quality benchmark for network managers and purchasers. It helps public sector organizations to achieve good information assurance and demonstrate compliance with internationally recognised security standards.
"We are delighted to renew the certification for a Juniper Networks solution in the expanding CCTM portfolio," said Head of CCTM Secretariat Peter Hayes. "This repeat award to Juniper Networks is part of a long standing relationship. We are delighted that Secure Access v6.5 R1.0 provides continuity for Juniper Networks in the CCTM scheme and extends the flexible working options for the wider public sector."
It is essential for networking vendors to support governments around the world in making their transformational infrastructures secure to protect citizen information," said Gert-Jan Schenk, senior vice president EMEA, Juniper Networks. "This certification aligns local governments' need for flexible access to national government systems with the growing cyber threat to public sector systems. We are very pleased to present our customers with this UK government-recognised validation of Juniper's Secure Access platforms."
Juniper Networks SA Series SSL VPN
Juniper Networks is the market leader in SSL-based remote access appliances that are easy to deploy and maintain. The SA Series SSL VPN Appliances enable organizations of all sizes to deploy cost-effective secure access for mobile and remote employees.
The use of SSL (Secure Socket Layer), the security protocol found in all standard Web browsers, eliminates the need for client-software deployment and costly ongoing client maintenance/support. The SSL VPN (Virtual Private Network) browser-based approach also enables mobile users to access corporate network resources securely via non-corporate endpoints. Juniper's SSL VPN solution authenticates each user's identity and verifies the health of the endpoint device before network access is granted, and also enforces the access to specific resources each user is permitted to have. Juniper SSL VPN platforms are very flexible and adaptable solution for most environments because of ease of integration into existing systems and applications.
The CCTM award validates the claims that Juniper SA4500 and SA6500 FIPS appliances provide secure, mobile, encrypted remote access services to public sector employees from a wide variety of devices. The award scheme offers further validation that Juniper's security technology is well-suited for local authority mobile and flexible working schemes and for home access to Government Connects through a compliant Code of Connection.
