HK Ocean Park to celebrate "Sweetheart Chinese New Year"

As Chinese New Year this year falls on the same day of Valentine's Day, Hong Kong Ocean Park unveiled on Tuesday its "Sweetheart Chinese New Year" celebration plans, featuring a mix-and-match of both eastern and western elements.

During the Chinese New Year holidays, Ocean Park will offer over 100 celebrating attractions and performances, 88 new-year-themed gift items and 68 auspicious culinary delights, said Allan Zeman, Chairman of Ocean Park, one of the most visited attractions in Hong Kong.

The park will present the largest peach blossom garden, the Double Happiness Garden, with an impressive grove of 99 peach blossoms, hoping that the number "99" which symbolizes " everlasting" in Chinese will bring good luck to all visitors. Also at the garden is a large digital screen which can be used to help sending heartfelt messages to lovers, friends or family.

To echo the theme of love during this New Year season, a House of Loving Kindness will be set up with four zones - romantic, friendship, family and love for the planet. Guests can solve tantalizing lantern riddles with their loved ones, learn about different ways to love and protect our Earth.

For those looking for a more exuberant experience, the Tai Shue Wan Plaza is going to present a stellar performance through Spellbound on Ice, a massive Chinese New Year illusion-filled extravaganza with amazing figure skating, aerial acts, funky dancing and a special appearance of Chinese mythological character "God of Fortune" is expected to fill the entire theater with good luck.

The Emperors of the Sky Presentation at the Bird Theater is not to be missed. Over ten extraordinary birds of prey including eagles, falcons, and vultures, will perform along with 70 other species of birds. This compelling educational session will give guests a deeper understanding of why it is important to protect their wildlife habitat.

"Sweetheart Chinese New Year" will run till the end of February.
