Lehman Trikes is pleased to announce that it is donating a 2008 PitBoss trike to the Kids & Chrome 2008 auction scheduled for Wednesday, August 6th, at the Spearfish Holiday Inn & Convention Center, Spearfish, SD. Kids & Chrome annually sponsors a fun-filled evening including reception, dinner, and both silent and live auctions during the Sturgis Rally. Proceeds of the festive event are divided between two deserving Black Hills non-profit organizations, Children's Home Society (the Kids) and Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame (the Chrome).
Lehman has announced that the 2008 PitBoss, Lehman's newest turnkey trike worth approximately $28,000, would be donated to the charity, rather than the previously announced conversion kit worth approximately $13,000. The Pit Boss originally was designed as a prototype at the request of Polaris Industries for their 50th anniversary. The PitBoss is powered by the Victory(R) Kingpin(TM) motorcycle with Victory's(R) own Freedom(R) 100 cubic-inch V-Twin engine and true 6-speed overdrive transmission. The PitBoss is endowed with wide-ranging curb appeal, stylish design, comfort and power. The PitBoss purposely is designed to empower the rider with freedom, fun, and excitement.
Lehman Trikes donated a trike conversion kit including installation and paint for the Kids & Chrome 2007 Auction; but, generously donated a second kit after another bidder asked if he could purchase a second kit for the same price, with proceeds going to the charity. Lehman's donations received the highest bids of the evening, substantially helping to boost the total amount raised to approximately $100,000.
The 2008 Kids & Chrome event is supported by the generosity of the motorcycle community as well as local and national event sponsors including Budweiser, the Kids & Chrome title sponsor. Other sponsors are Lehman Trikes, BaggerWorks, Black Hills Harley-Davidson, the Buffalo Chip, Black Hills Surgery Center, Performance Machine, Baker Drivetrain, State Publishing & Printing and Sturgis Bike Week.
The live auction will feature items such as the 2008 Pit Boss donated by Lehman Trikes and "The Dakota", a one-off custom bagger, created by Tom Binyon, owner of BaggerWorks Custom Touring Motorcycles in Wichita, Kansas. Tickets for the Wednesday, August 6th, Kids & Chrome benefit dinner and auction can be purchased on-line at www.kidandchrome.com or by calling Stacey Sharp, Kids & Chrome Event Coordinator, at (605) 341-5226. Winston Churchill once said, `We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.' We at Lehman Trikes are truly blessed; we not only have made a living in this community, but now we have the privilge to serve our community by giving back a small part of what we have received, and we hope that it will indeed make a difference."
