Suzuki to build Thai small-car plant for 2012 start

Suzuki Motor Corp. said on Tuesday it would build a factory in Thailand with the capacity to manufacture 100,000 small cars a year after receiving government approval for the project.

Daimler to expand compact car plant in Germany

Daimler AG will spend 600 million euros ($895.9 million) to expand its compact car plant in Rastatt, Germany. The investment is part of the 3 billion euros it will spend in all on its German manufacturing plants this year and next.

Nissan releases sketch of global compact car

Nissan Motor Co. on Thursday released a sketch of its future global compact car. In a statement, the Japanese automaker said the model will be initially launched in Thailand in March 2010 and will be available in more than 150 countries.
