ROLLS-ROYCE WINS $1.5 BILLION ORDER TO POWER 20 AIR CHINA AIRCRAFT

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has won an order for Trent 700
engines to power 20 Air China Airbus A330 aircraft. The contract, worth $1.5bn
at list prices, includes long-term TotalCare(R) service support.

The aircraft, to be delivered from 2011, will take Air China's Rolls-Royce
powered A330 fleet to a total of 43.

In China, the Trent 700 has now been selected fourteen times by nine customers
to power a total of 178 A330s in service or on order.

More than 1,000 Trent 700s are in service or on firm order. As the only engine
specifically designed for the aircraft, the Trent 700 has won more than
70 per cent of new orders over the last three years.

He Li, Air China Senior Vice President, said: "We have been pleased with the
performance and service support for our existing Trent 700s. This was a major
factor in our latest engine selection."

Phil Harris, Rolls-Royce Senior Vice President Customer Business, said: "We are
delighted that Air China is again turning to Trent engine technology. It offers
Air China many advantages, such as the ability to maximise capacity at hot and
high altitude airports, minimise fuel costs and benefit from the Rolls-Royce
TotalCare(R) comprehensive long-term support package."

The latest Air China engines are an enhanced performance version of the Trent
700 which improves engine fuel burn - confirming its position as the engine of
choice for fuel burn, emissions, thrust and noise on the A330. As part of the
contract, Trent 700 engines for Air China's existing fleet of A330s will be
retrofitted with enhanced performance kits.

ROLLS-ROYCE GROUP PLC - Re Contract - Zibb.com

ROLLS-ROYCE SIGNS $171 MILLION F-35 STOVL LIFTSYSTEM CONTRACT

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has signed a $171 million
contract with Pratt & Whitney to supply the Rolls-Royce LiftSystem(R) for a
further 9 Short Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) variant F-35B Lightning
II aircraft as part of the third lot of Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP).

This order is the second production contract for Rolls-Royce as part of its
involvement in the JSF programme. The previous contract, for LRIP 2 and signed
in December 2008, was for $131m.

The Rolls-Royce LiftSystem comprises a LiftFan, Roll Posts and 3 Bearing Swivel
Module. Rolls-Royce will provide these through the propulsion system prime
contractor Pratt & Whitney, with module deliveries having already commenced in
July 2009 under the Long Lead provision within the contract. The scope of the
contract also includes spare hardware, production investment and sustainment
planning.

Simon Henley, Director for New Product Introduction at Rolls-Royce Defence
Aerospace, said:

"This new contract, together with the imminent first flight of the F-35 in
STOVL mode, shows the Rolls-Royce LiftSystem programme is now generating real
momentum and that Rolls-Royce technology is helping to bring a step change in
air combat technology.

"As the LiftSystem programme continues to gain momentum on both sides of the
Atlantic we are looking forward to supporting the flight trials with the
LiftSystem engaged in the F-35B at the Naval Air Station at Patuxent River".

Orders for the LiftSystem are expected to total over 600, with leading
customers including the US Marine Corps, The UK Armed Forces and the Italian
Navy. The F-35B variant is expected to remain in service well after 2050.

Rolls-Royce engineers in Bristol, UK and Indianapolis, US, are involved in
design and assembly of the LiftSystem, with component manufacture also taking
place at the Hucknall and Bristol sites in the UK.

This production contract follows on from the $1.1bn contract signed with
Pratt & Whitney in 2001 to develop the F135 STOVL Propulsion System.

NOTES FOR EDITORS:

 1. Rolls-Royce, a world-leading provider of power systems and services for use
on land, at sea and in the air, operates in four global markets - civil
aerospace, defence aerospace, marine and energy. Rolls-Royce has a broad
customer base comprising 600 airlines, 4,000 corporate and utility aircraft
and helicopter operators, 160 armed forces, more than 2,000 marine
customers including 70 navies, and energy customers in 120 countries.

 2. Rolls-Royce is under contract to Pratt & Whitney for development of the
LiftSystem components of the F135 STOVL Propulsion System. The contract
signed with Pratt & Whitney in December 2001, which covers the design and
development work of the STOVL elements during the System Development and
Demonstration (SDD) phase of the programme, is worth $1.1 billion to
    Rolls-Royce over 10 years.

 3. The LiftFan, a 50-inch two-stage counter rotating fan capable of generating
more than 20,000lb of thrust, is driven by the aircraft main engine and
supplies the forward vertical lift. The 3BSM is a swivelling jet pipe
capable of redirecting the rear thrust from the horizontal to the vertical
position. It can rotate through 95 degrees in 2.5 seconds and passes
18,000lb of thrust generated from the main engine. Aircraft roll control is
achieved using the Roll Posts mounted in the wings of the aircraft, each of
which provides further 1,950lb thrust from the main engine.

DUBAI AIR SHOW ORDERS AND MILESTONES REFLECT ROLLS-ROYCE TECHNOLOGY SUCCESS

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has secured orders worth more
than $2.3 billion during the Dubai Air Show, demonstrating its strong
market positions, its continued investment in technology and access to global
markets.

The Group, which has the most extensive portfolio of power systems in the
aerospace industry, won orders in both the civil and defence aerospace market
sectors. It also reaffirmed its commitment to working in partnership in the
Middle East, signing a tenancy agreement with the Qatar Science and Technology
Park.

Civil highlights included orders for both the Trent 700 and Trent XWB, taking
sales for each engine type past 1,000. Air China ordered the Trent 700, in an
order worth $1.5 billion to power 20 Airbus A330 aircraft. A total of 584
Trent 700 engines have been delivered to customers around the world since
entry into service in 1995.

Ethiopian Airlines selected the Trent XWB, the fastest selling Trent engine
ever, in an order worth $480 million that also marked the airline's first Trent
purchase. The engines will power 12 Airbus A350 XWB aircraft.

In the defence sector, Rolls-Royce was awarded a $171 million contract to
supply its unique LiftSystem(TM) for a further nine Short Take-Off and Vertical
Landing (STOVL) variant F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter) aircraft. This
order is the second production contract for Rolls-Royce as part of its
involvement in the Joint Strike Fighter programme.

Rolls-Royce also announced it has powered the UK's largest fully-autonomous
unmanned aircraft through successful flight trials in Australia. Working in
conjunction with BAE Systems, which is leading the Mantis programme,
Rolls-Royce has led the development of an Integrated Power System (IPS)
incorporating the twin engines and propellers and associated sub-systems.

Europrop International, in which Rolls-Royce is a partner, announced a major
milestone on the path to the first flight of the Airbus A400M military
transport aircraft with the clearance of the aircraft's TP400 engines for taxi
trials.

Rolls-Royce market success continues to reflect the financial and operational
appeal of long-term service agreements designed to minimise customer financial
risk and enhance operational performance and reliability, allowing operators to
concentrate on their core business. The Air China order included Rolls-Royce
TotalCare(R) service support, which is now in place on more than 80 per cent of
new Trent engines.

The Group also benefited from the continued success of International Aero
Engines, in which Rolls-Royce is a senior partner. IAE received an order for
V2500 engines from DAE Capital, the aircraft leasing and financial business arm
of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), with a value to Rolls-Royce of
$110 million. IAE also won an order for aftermarket services from Etihad Airways
for V2500 engines worth up to $60 million to Rolls-Royce.
