The site lies in a flood plain and is consequently underlain by variable weak alluvial silt and sand which in turn is underlain by very competent Glacial Till at about four to five metres depth. A thin discontinuous layer of fill material was also present over parts of the site.

Optimal Design
USG is a Fortune 500 company that manufactures construction materials. Optimal Design was contracted by USG to develop a new drywall compound hopper for use in applying mud onto paper-faced corner beads.

The total project was for 76 standard panels and 42 specials. Specials involved a number of sloping and end units. Panel sizes ranged from 1200mm wide x 1350mm high to 6200mm wide x 1350mm high.
